the honeydogs 03/20/04
I'd never actually heard of the Honeydogs prior to them taking the stage at the Cedar Street Courtyard showcase during SXSW 2004. I remember I had gone to the show to see Michael Penn and Jesse Malin, but to be honest I think I most enjoyed the Honeydogs set. Featuring ultra-catchy and hummable songs, the Honeydogs have no shame in their inherent indie pop flavor. Every song in this set has solid hooks that draw you in and have you bopping your head by the 1st chorus. And the best bit? They're seriously talented musicians. No three-chord stupidity here.
If you need a place to start go with Poor Little Sugar.
(Mr Strange, this one's for you.)
